Township of North Huron Invest in Local Healthcare, Donate $250,000 to Wingham Hospital Campaign

The council of the Township of North Huron has approved a donation of $250,000 to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation’s Our Hospital, Our Future campaign.  The $250,000 is a pledge to be contributed in instalments over the next five years.  As the home township of the Wingham & District Hospital residents of the North Huron are the most frequent users of the Hospital. The council’s commitment affirms its belief in its responsibility to protect and promote our community as a thriving and economically-stable base for growing families and businesses.

Councillors presented their pledge to members of the Our Hospital, Our Future campaign on June 6th. Campaign Chair Mark Foxton congratulated councillors for taking action to ensure the long-term viability of the community and recognizing that a “prosperous, welcoming community includes an up-to-date, quality hospital. Reeve Neil Vincent responded that, “Our Hospital, Our Future isn’t just a slogan, the Hospital is important from a healthcare and economic standpoint and we want it to be around well into the future.”

The Our Hospital, Our Future campaign has now raised over 60% of its $4 million goal. The campaign team is encouraging any community member who would like to contribute to the future of local healthcare to send their personal donations to the Foundation office. All donations to the campaign will go towards the expansion of six Hospital departments, including the only chemotherapy clinic in Huron and Bruce Counties, the creation of a healthcare campus providing primary care services and upgrading vital medical equipment.
