Foundation Donates $1.5 Million to Hospital

$1.5 million in medical equipment and facility upgrades has been donated to the Wingham & District Hospital by the Foundation. These funds were provided by community contributions throughout the past year. Wingham & District Hospital Foundation board members presented the annual donation at the LWHA board meeting on April 25th. WDH Foundation Coordinator Nicole Jutzi said, “The Foundation is proud to facilitate this significant donation, but it is the generosity of our community that makes it possible.”

A large portion of the $1.5 million is the first instalment of the Foundation’s contribution towards the major redevelopment project underway at the Hospital. Currently, work is progressing on the expansion of the Oncology and Pharmacy departments. In addition to the facility upgrades, the WDH Foundation donation also supports the ongoing equipment needs of the Hospital by providing funds for in-patient beds, air mattresses (courtesy of the Auxiliary to the WDH), urine analysis machines, digital imaging stretchers, vital signs monitors and a cardiac ultrasound probe.

The WDH Foundation raises money annually through the CKNX Healthcare Heroes Radiothon, The Great Hospital Race, grants, bequests, memorial donations and general community donations. This year’s funds were also raised in part through the Our Hospital, Our Future campaign. Since its inception the WDH Foundation has contributed more than $5.7m to the Hospital.

Thank you to all the generous donors who made gifts to the Foundation over the past year. Every donation has a direct benefit to the Hospital to the quality of local healthcare.
