$4,000 from Brussels Optimist Club
The Brussels Optimist Club presented a donation of $4,000 to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation at their meeting on April 12th.  These funds were raised by the annual dinner and auction event which was hosted at the Brussels Arena on March 18th. The event was once again a big success and raised over $30,000. Three other local hospital and the local fire departments also received portions of the proceeds.

At the event on March 18th, WDH Foundation Coordinator Nicole Jutzi spoke regarding the major redevelopment project occurring at the Wingham & District Hospital, which includes the expansion of the only chemotherapy clinic in Huron and Bruce counties. Construction on the $17 million project has begun and is anticipated to take two years to complete. Community donations, like the generous $4,000 contribution from the Brussels Optimist Club, directly benefit the renovation and equipment needs associated with the project, help keep the Hospital well equipped and in a strong financial position for the future.

Brussels Optimist Club President, Corey Campbell said, “it’s important to the club to support our Hospitals because even though we may not want to use them we definitely want them to always be there when we need them.”

Everyone at the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation and at all the local Hospital Foundations are exceedingly grateful to the members of the Optimist Club and all the community members who supported the dinner and auction event.
