McBurney Funeral Home Pledges $25,000

Dayna Deans, owner of McBurney Funeral Home has pledged to donate $25,000 to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation. This generous donation will support the major redevelopment work that is underway at the Hospital.

Deans took over ownership of McBurney’s in the summer of 2016 and following a successful first year in business she feels it is time to contribute to the community. “I might be a younger business owner,” says Deans. “But I know the importance of giving back. I’m not going to wait until I’m older to support something as important as our local hospital.”

Construction work on the redevelopment project at the Wingham & District Hospital is currently ongoing. The first of six departments seeing major expansion and refurbishment is the Oncology clinic – the only one of its kind in Huron and Bruce – and the adjacent Pharmacy. The entire project has an estimated cost of $17 million. Community contributions towards the redevelopment by people like Deans are vital to the future financial health of our Hospital.

All community contributions directly support the bricks and mortar facility upgrades and medical equipment to outfit the expanded departments including Oncology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Specialist Clinic, Medical Device Reprocessing and Surgery. Everyone at the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation is grateful to Deans and McBurney Funeral Home for helping keep quality healthcare close to home for years to come.
