The improvements to the Hospital building are long overdue and the Health Campus project is a great opportunity for integration of health services. Both are much needed and will be a great benefit to patient care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the questions we are most frequently asked. Please contact us if you have any additional questions about our foundation or would like to make a donation.
What is the WDH Foundation?
The Wingham & District Hospital Foundation, established to raise funds on behalf of the Wingham & District Hospital, is a not-for-profit registered charitable foundation incorporated in 1976. All funds raised by the Foundation go towards purchasing innovative and up-to-date equipment, funding education programs and building improvements for the hospital. Our goal is to continue providing our community with the best possible health care.
Why is the WDH Foundation necessary?
With rapid advancements in healthcare technology, the demand to upgrade existing equipment and purchase new equipment is constant. Your donations for up-to-date patient care equipment are vital to helping us provide the best possible care. The WDH Foundation is necessary because government funding is not sufficient to provide all the technology, services and programs required at our hospital. The full cost of equipment has always been the responsibility of the hospital. The government funding shortfall and equipment funding must come from the community who use the services of our hospital. The WDH Foundation raises those funds that facilitates the purchasing of new equipment and technology, replacing existing equipment and the funding of programs. We strive to provide out healthcare professionals with the most up-to-date and highest-quality equipment so they can diagnose and treat all the patients at the Wingham & District Hospital.
How are funds raised?
Funds are raised through direct mail appeals, major gift solicitations, grants and through a series of fundraising events held throughout the year. Donations are also made to the WDH Foundation in memoriam, as legacy gifts and bequests, and in honour of life events and hospital heroes.
Does the WDH Foundation decide which projects receive funding?
No. In conjunction with Wingham & District Hospital’s healthcare professionals and key stakeholders, the hospital conducts an extensive capital-planning process annually to prioritize needs. From that process, we receive a list of priority programs and equipment requirements that we fundraise to pay for.
Where is WDH Foundation located?
The WDH Foundation office is located at the Wingham & District Hospital, located at 270 Carling Terrace in Wingham, ON. The office is open Monday to Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to arrange a visit outside of these times please contact Nicole Jutzi at wdh.foundation@lwha.ca or 519-357-3903.
